The iconic British television show, “The X Factor” made its way into the U.S. in the fall of 2011.  Today it dominates the television viewers, entertains many and generously rewards the winner of the singing contest with a $5 million contract.  The well-known producer, Simon Cowell produces the show.  Two new judges and two new hosts joined “The X Factor” at the begging of the 2012 show.  Here are few rarely known facts about some of them.

At the tender age of ten, Britney Spears contested in the “Star Search” and lost to 12-year old Marty Thomas.  In 1997 she debut her album “…Baby One More Time” with Jive Records.  She is now 30 and grew up in Louisiana.

Who couldn’t remember Mario Lopez from the hit television show “Saved by the Bell”?  After “Saved by the Bell” he hosted “Extra” for a while and now he is co-hosting “The X Factor”.

The names of the entire Kardashian gang start with K.  Khloe Kardashian Odom is married to basketball superstar Lamar Odom and they both star in their own show, “Khloe and Lamar”, an off shoot of “Keeping up with the Kardashians”.

During a recent auction by Christie’s in New York City, a rare piece from Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies” series was auctioned for record over $43 million.  The painting came from the estate of Ethel Strong Allen, widow of Wall Street executive Herbert Allen Sr.  She donated the proceeds from the auction to the Hackley School, a K-12 boarding school in Tarrytown, a suburb of New York City.

This among the best piece dates back to 1905 when Monet began painting his garden’s lily pond in Giverny, France.  Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies” collection includes approximately 250 oil paintings dating from 1840 – 1946, mostly from last 30 years of his work while he was suffering from cataracts.  His paintings are on display in many museums from New York to Paris and other parts of the world.  Many pieces from the collection previously auctioned for £18.5 million in 2007 to £41 million in 2008.  Generally they are estimated to sell £18 to £24 million.  Monet’s “Water Lilies” series is amongst the most recognized and celebrated work of the 20th century.  It had an immense influence over the following generations of artists.  Monet’s other famous series is known as Haystacks.

Much has written about Agent J played by Will Smith in Men in Black 3 and not much about Agent K played by Josh Brolin. Josh Brolin plays a partner role as agent K in Men in Black 3 along with Will Smith. The 44 year old actor portrays as a younger Tommy Lee Jones. He wears a prosthetic nose, ears, and brow. Brolin says mimicking comes naturally. He comes from a family in the entertainment business. He is married to actress Diane Lane. His father, James Brolin who is an actor himself is married to famed Barbara Streisand.

In high school, Brolin made people laugh with his acting. Brolin made his film debut in the 1985 movie, The Goonies. His other movie work includes No Country for Old Men, Milk, and W. He was nominated for an Oscar for his performance as a gay-bashing murderer in the film Milk. In the comedy W, he successfully portrays President George W. Bush. In the sci-fi comedy Men in Black 3, Brolin plays the role of Agent K meeting Agent J played by Will Smith for the first time in 1969. Before taking the role he watched the series many times over preparing him for the role.
