Super Bowl XLIX halftime show

The Super Bowl is the venue for entertainers to showcase their talent and to dazzle unbelievably large worldwide audience. The Super Bowl XLIX will be held on February 1, 2015 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The Halftime Show will feature Katy Perry, Rihanna and Coldplay. Idina Menzel will perform the national anthem while John Legend will sing “America the Beautiful.”

The Billboard announced on October 9, 2014 that the American singer and song writer Katy Perry will be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show. Katy Perry’s career started with gospel music and her debut album, Katy Hudson, was released in 2001. Her first major breakthrough in music came with the signing a deal with Capitol Records in April 2007. Her famous numbers include I Kissed a Girl, Hot n Cold, The One That Got Away, Roar and Dark Horse.

Barbadian singer, actress and fashion designer Rihanna’s career started with Even Rogers in 2003 and recorded her music with Def Jam Recordings. Her successful songs include Pon de Replay, SOS, and Umbrella.

The British rock band Coldplay formed in 1996 by the lead vocalist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland in London and took the new name in 1998. The group became famous with its single, Yellow in 2000.

The entertainment industry is under attack by hackers

The Sony Picture Entertainment hack attack in late November 2014 shocked the entire entertainment industry. Early indications reveal that the North Korean government believed to be behind the attack and the hackers are attempting to stop the planned Christmas Day release of the movie, “The Interview.” Unfortunately sensitive and personal emails between key employees are also being released by the hackers embarrassing many of them and offering apologies to President Obama, actress Angelina Jolie and many others. Employees of Sony Pictures Entertainment are also impacted due to salary and other personal information that has been released by hackers. Artists who are involved with Sony and hold many contracts are on edge due to fear of release of their contract information. Hackers also released some of future films from Sony Picture Entertainment online.

Due to safety concerns Movie theaters are afraid of screening The Interview and Sony Pictures may cancel the planned release. However, the government is urging the Sony Pictures not to give into threats. The attack will have crippling effect on the movie as well as other parts of the entertainment industry. If movie goers react negatively to the threat it may have lasting impact on the industry.

Top school and museum dedicated to the fashion industry

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is famous for its museum located in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City that is dedicated for the fashion industry. FIT is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) and focuses on art and design education. Founded in 1944, FIT received its accreditation in 1957 and today ranks among the top five fashion schools in the world. Its enrollment exceeds more than 9,500 students. It offers undergraduate degrees as well as graduate degrees in 44 disciplines including marketing for the fashion industry, toy design, menswear, fashion merchandizing and computer animation and interactive media.

The museum at FIT solely dedicated to the art of fashion. It holds innovative and award-winning exhibits in addition to displaying its permanent collection of over 50,000 garments and accessories. The collection dates back to the 18th century and works of 20th century fashion designers take the center stage. As the director and chief curator of the museum, Yale educated Valerie Steel is bringing study of corsets, displaying sensual objects that were hidden from view, and transforming the museum to a true cultural and intellectual show case. New exhibits are constantly changing the way we look at art and fashion.

New bra loaded with technology from Victoria’s Secret

Famous for its skimpy underwear and breakthrough bras, the lingerie behemoth is introducing a new line of sports bra equipped with a heart monitor. The fabric of the bra holds heart rate sensors and electrodes that can be attached to a separate heart rate monitor. The panel is stitched to the frontal band of the bra. It comes with moisture wicking nylon and spandex fabrics and connecting wires are concealed from view. This allows comfort and free and easy movement. The bra is ideal for running, boxing and cardio exercises. The bra line is known as Incredible and available in pinkish color for Hello Lovely and black and gray for Black Marl.
